It's Been an Honor

Goodbye and Thanks from the outgoing Foundation Board Chair
Dear friends and supporters,
Serving as Chair of the Foundation Board for Forsyth Technical Community College was both an honor and a joy. Looking back on my time as Chair, and the four years that preceded that appointment, I feel gratitude for the dedicated community of supporters, partners and colleagues who continue to advance our mission of transforming lives through education. This past year was filled with meaningful moments that reminded me why this work matters so deeply to me.
One of the most inspiring parts of my tenure was watching the growth and life-changing influence of College Lift. Seeing the impact of not just academic, but cultural and emotional support to students and their families reaffirmed for me the values that Forsyth Tech embodies. It was great to see many of you at our annual luncheon to support the College Lift program. The day was filled with powerful stories of perseverance and possibility as we celebrated what happens when our community rallies behind students and families striving for brighter futures.
You may recall the addition of Quan, Forsyth Tech’s investment in a K-9 officer to ensure campus safety. This innovative partnership highlights Forsyth Tech as the first community college in NC to have a K-9 officer, setting a new standard for proactive security and student engagement. Watching that partnership unfold brought a sense of warmth and togetherness to the campus and is a perfect example of how small ideas can have a big impact.
I am inspired by Forsyth Tech donor, Mary Tucker. Mary believes in the power of practical, skills-based education and she remains a steadfast champion of the college even after her relocation to another state. Her support reflects a keen understanding of how Forsyth Tech opens doors to stable, rewarding careers and empowers students with the technical skills employers are actively seeking. Mary’s thoughtful philanthropy is rooted in both experience and vision; and the impact of her generosity will be felt for years to come.
Serving in this role has been one of the true honors of my professional and personal life. I’m deeply thankful for everyone who gives of their time, talent and treasure to ensure that Forsyth Tech continues to thrive. With Angela Cook as the Foundation Board’s Executive Director, the future is assuredly bright and I am excited to see the next chapter unfold. In service and gratitude,
